After a rate cut by the Federal Reserve, managing director and portfolio manager Sarah Henry appeared on TD Ameritrade Network. She noted, “Liquidity certainly will help, even temporarily, but using past pandemics as a guide, we have a reasonably clear path of what is likely to happen. If you look at SARS, avian flu, MERS, it tends to follow a predictable pattern where there is a significant hit to global GDP in the first and second quarter following the outbreak, but recovery is equally quick as contractions are pretty short lived.” According to Sarah, “So this would actually lead us back to global growth trajectory in the second half of the year.”
